The wait is over - today is Opening Day at Waterville Valley Resort! Old Man Winter has returned this week, just in time for opening weekend! On Thursday, we saw 8 inches of snow has fallen at the base with 12-14 inches of snow at the summit! Last night we saw another dusting of snow on the mountain.
NOTE: There will be no beginner terrain open for opening weekend.
Snowmaking and Mountain Operations:
This past week, snowmaking has been going full tilt at higher elevations. Down in the base area, Mother Nature has been less cooperative, as temperatures remained above freezing until Thursday’s snowstorm. Instead of top-to-bottom skiing, we anticipate opening the upper portion of the mountain today: specifically Northside and High Country, with three lifts spinning: Tecumseh Express, Northside, and High Country.
Guests will load the Tecumseh Express with skis on, and will download the lift with skis off. Please do not ski to the bottom of the mountain, as active snowmaking and other mountain work will be taking place. With cold temperatures now rolling in, we aim to provide top-to-bottom skiing as soon as possible! Snowmaking is ongoing on The Pasture, Old Tecumseh, Upper Sel's Choice, Tommy's World Cup, White Caps, Lower Periphery and the Base Area.
Trails and Lifts:
We anticipate opening the following lifts: Tecumseh Express, High Country, and Northside. We anticipate opening up 14 trails on 46 acres of terrain, with Tangent and Periphery fully ungroomed!
Conditions and Weather:
Today's forecast will consist of partly cloudy skies with temperatures anticipated to reach 21 degrees at the summit and 30 degrees at the base. Western winds are expected to reach 20-35 mph at the summit and 14-20 mph at the base.

Terrain Parks:
High Country Park and Big Air Jump will be open this weekend! Park can be accessed by bearing right at the top of High Country to the top of Hassle. Boardercross course will be closed for private training. Check back daily for park statuses throughout the next month.
Uphill Access:
All routes are closed until further notice. There is active snowmaking and snowcats working across the mountain, which can create life-threatening hazards for uphill travelers. For your own safety as well as the safety and well-being of our team, please obey the rules and do not travel uphill until we officially open uphill travel routes for the winter season. Click here to view the full uphill access policy.
Dining:
This weekend, you can fuel up and wind down at: Identity Coffee (open for breakfast), The Marketplace (serving lunch), and The Freestyle Lounge (serving lunch, après, and dinner).
Additional Info:
